Apprehension lurks
before taking a first step
to the other side.
And this one for people from my home state of Maine:
The Piscataqua
divides New Hampshire from Maine
long bridge—Home at last!

I was seriously debating which of the two words to use. I chose apprehension because it seemed less negative. For me, this is about passing to the afterlife, and I’m working on trying not to be terrified of that.

apprehension is defintely the better word in the ku
trepidation is the reader reaction — try not to get too hung up on the metaphor but keep it understated.
