Belonging haiku
dani
uprooted
transplanted to a place
I don’t belong
*****
how hard it is to
want to belong to someone
who doesn’t want you

Its good to read someone writing about not always belonging. Its easy with these prompts to take the positive interpretation and miss the flip side. The last one is really good - making me remember that many components have to come together for belonging to work.

the not-so-happy side of a sense of belonging (or longing to belong). they are both so full of a beautiful sadness.

In my youth, there were a handful of experiences when that “wanting” you so truthfully wrote of was a place I called home. Your haiku was important for me to read. This moment. . .a healing. Thank you for writing it!!!

Your words touched my heart, and you beautifully captured the sadness and ache of wanting to belong.
