Ode to Bill Holm
dani
This is my all-time favorite poem:
August in Waterton, Alberta
By Bill Holm
Above me, wind does its best
to blow leaves off
the aspen tree a month too soon.
No use wind. All you succeed
in doing is making music, the noise
of failure growing beautiful.
As suggested by this week’s Poetry Thursday prompt, here is my
Ode to Bill Holm
Awestruck by you, I do my best
to blow words around
the page in search of treasure.
No use pen. All I succeed
in doing is echoing your voice, perfection
finding beauty in imperfection.

Holm’s poem is quite wonderful. You have created a little masterpiece of your own too. I see the connection in structure between the two and the inspiration. Very nice.

You did a great job echoing his tone and structure. I never read the Holm poem before and it is beautiful!

Wonderful — both to be introduced to Bill Holm and his poem, and to read your ode to him and “meet” your blog.
Love this:
“…to blow words around
the page in search of treasure.”

I love Bill Holm — I didn’t think anyone outside of MN knew about him.
Great tribute both in style and content.

Nice idea well done. (You’ve inspired me to give it a try.) I’ll have to read some of Holm’s work.
Your words are a wonderful response to his.

These are both great. I wanted to observe that I was looking for a referral to some modern French poetry and didn’t get any suggestions and then I surf over to here and found some. I’m going to have to spend some more time checking these out.
